The right and
left shift keys moved the cursor night and down, respectively.
Extra signs showed greater sensitivity and accuracy than
left shift. However, specificity of extra sign and
left shift were poor, 50% and 60%.
Other causes of
left shift can include severe inflammatory disease, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative disease, chronic myeloid leukemia, myelofibrosis, metastatic bone marrow malignancy, and acute organ transplant rejection.
On a recheck CBC, the PCV value had improved but the leukocytosis was more severe despite improvement in the

(3) Laboratory tests generally show leukocytosis with a

The 5 WBC-specific flags with user-definable thresholds that we used as our model system are called (1) blasts, (2) immature granulocytes, (3)

A massive

Laboratory data showed normal hemoglobin level, thrombocytosis--1357 x [10.sup.9] /1,
left shift in the differential blood count with 8% myeloblasts and 4% erythroblasts.
Advocates of the pH-stat method argue that since hemoglobin's affinity for oxygen increases as temperature decreases the addition of CO2 or decrease in ventilation (resulting in a respiratory acidosis) during this method will counter the
left shift and therefore oxygen release at the tissues will be improved.
Laboratory results show leukocytosis with a
left shift. Diagnosis can be confirmed by challenge, and elimination of the offending agent usually results in resolution of symptoms within 72 hours.
Hemogram revealed neutrophilia with
left shift where band neutrophils (0.53 x[10.sup.9]/L; reference range <0.3 x[10.sup.9]/L) with segmented neutrophils (13.45 x[10.sup.9]/L; reference range 2.5-12.5 x [10.sup.9]/L) were elevated.
It is accepted that according to the Alvarado Scoring System which consists of right lower quadrant tenderness, rebound tenderness, migrating pain, nausea and/or vomiting, anorexia, fever, leucocytosis and a
left shift in the leukocyte count.
