Figure 6 showed an
electrophoretogram of standard solution (20 [micro]g/mL), obtained by adopting the previous extraction procedure and capillary electrophoresis conditions.

In particular, secondary metabolites have greater impact on 2- DE, such as phenols, which are easy to be oxidized during protein sample preparation resulting in irregular protein dots and streaks in the 2-D
electrophoretogram image (Valcu and Schlink, 2006).
The possibility of enzyme autolysis could also be considered, supporting the difference in amount of the two species in MALDI-TOF, but in this case, 14.139 Da major component should be visible on the
electrophoretogram. Nevertheless the discrepancy between molecular mass from SDSPAGE and MALDI-TOF is relatively large; it is known that many factors can influence the electrophoretic mobility on SDS-PAGE, giving unreliable mass measurements for some proteins (HAMES, 1990).
An example of the 'banding patterns' resulting from gel electrophoresis is shown in the
electrophoretogram of Figure 4.
Although smears were observed on the
electrophoretogram (likely due to the polydispersity and/or heterogeneous size distribution in the hyaluronic acid samples), difference in electrophoretic pattern was discernable for HAs of different size: the higher the MW, the slower the mobility (Fig.
RFLP products were analyzed using 4 per cent gel
electrophoretogram. Staphylococcal isolates with identical RFLP pattern were grouped together and one isolates from each group and three reference strains [S.
