caspase 3

A 32-kD cysteine-aspartic acid protease encoded by CASP3 on chromosome 4q34, which is related to ICE–IL-1 beta converting enzyme, and plays a key role in the execution-phase of apoptosis via poly-(ADP)-ribose-polymerase cleavage. Caspase 3 cleaves and activates caspases 6, 7 and 9, and is itself processed by caspases 8, 9 and 10. It is the key caspase in cleaving amyloid-beta 4A precursor protein, which is linked to neuronal death in Alzheimer's disease.

Normal expression
Caspase 3 is expressed on germinal centre B cells, plasma cells, and on scattered activated B cells.

Abnormal expression
Some non-Hodgkin lymphomas.

This is expected, because caspase-8 is a major initiation in death receptor signaling; active caspase-8 leads to the activation of downstream caspases, including caspase 3 (Chen and Wang, 2002).
Tylophora alkaloids induced apoptosis in K562 cells with characteristic apoptotic features like nuclear condensation, apoptotic body formation, flipping of membrane phosphatidylserine, activation of caspase 3 and release of mitochondrial cytochrome c.
The primary antibodies used to detect MLKL (37705S), cleaved caspase 3 (9661s), and caspase 3 (9662s) were obtained from Cell Signaling Technology (USA).
Objective: To determine the applicability of urinary caspase 3 enzyme and TNF-a as biomarkers in children with ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO).
As shown in the Figure 4a, the Caspase 3 activities were significantly increased in 1.6 mg/l of the PFOS single-treatment, 0.8 mg/l of the PFOS and 1.6 mg/l of the PFOS joint exposure groups compared with that in the control (p < 0.05).

MCF-7 cancer cell lines are characterized by resistance chemotherapeutic agents, [17,18] responsive estrogen receptors (ER+), overexpression of Bcl-2, [19,20] and with no expression of Caspase 3. [21,22] Stimulation of ER could increase P-gp concentration.
