tetrad analysis

a genetic analysis of events at MEIOSIS as shown by the arrangement of cells in a TETRAD, the four products of a single meiotic cell. The technique usually involves the determination of the precise order of the eight ascospores within a fungal ASCUS. See FIRST-DIVISION SEGREGATION.
