first-division segregation
the segregation of a pair of different alleles of a gene into different nuclei at the first division or MEIOSIS. In TETRAD ANALYSIS of an ASCUS such segregation would be detected by four adjacent ascospores carrying one allele type and the other four ascospores carrying the other type.Collins Dictionary of Biology, 3rd ed. © W.
