general dissemination of tubercle bacilli in the blood, resulting in the formation of miliary tubercles in various organs and tissues, and occasionally producing symptoms of profound toxemia.

disseminated tuberculosis

A chronic, contagious infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which has spread from the lungs to other organs by blood or lymphatics, after inhaling droplets sprayed into the air by coughing or sneezing by a person infected with M tuberculosis. Disseminated tuberculosis is characterised by granulomas of involved organs and develops in patients with immune defects.
 
Tissues affected
Pericardium, peritoneum, larynx, bronchus, cervical lymph nodes, bones, joints, genitourinary system, eye, stomach, meninges, skin.
 
Risk of contracting TB
Increases with crowding, unsanitary living conditions, poor nutrition; Hispanics, Native Americans, African Americans; HIV infection, homelessness, elders, infants; those with incomplete treatment of TB, leading to proliferation of drug-resistant strains.

A rapidly fatal disease due to the general dissemination of acid-fast bacilli in the blood, resulting in the formation of miliary tubercles in various organs and tissues, and producing symptoms of profound toxemia.
