1. Relating to an axis. Synonym(s): axialis [TA], axile
2. Relating to or situated in the central part of the body, in the head and trunk as distinguished from the limbs, for example, axial skeleton.
3. In dentistry, relating to or parallel with the long axis of a tooth.
4. In radiology, an axial image is one obtained by rotating around the axis of the body, producing a transverse planar image, that is, a section transverse to the axis.
