ramp

(ramp),
In electrical recording, a uniformly rising level of voltage or current. If reset to 0 at regular intervals, it forms a sawtooth pattern that is used to provide the time sweep of a cathode ray oscilloscope beam; if it is reset to 0 by a periodic event (for example, the heart beat), the distance to the peak of each ramp represents the time between elapsed events.
