It was soon discovered that, at ambient temperatures (below the glass transition temperature of polystyrene) the styrene block tails aggregate in clusters (domains) to act as rigid physical crosslinks, which maximise the high elastic properties of the butadiene block.
Styrene is a primary ingredient used to manufacture the thermoset resins used in cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) to rehabilitate sewer pipes.
Because of their identical structures, it is possible to dissolve the molecules of the hPS into the styrene microphases of the copolymer SBS or SEBS.
