Postprocessing technique in digital imaging that averages pixel frequency in the image to remove high-frequency noise.

smoothing

Grinding of the surface of a lens to the exact curvature and thickness with a very fine abrasive. This procedure comes after the roughing process and prior to polishing. See abrasive; surfacing.
