(rā'fē), [TA] Avoid the mispronunciations rah-fā' and rāf. Do not place an acute accent over the final e of this Greek word. Although r at the beginning of a Greek word is usually followed by h in English spelling, this word is correctly spelled either raphe or rhaphe.
