A form of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia (OMIM:614595) caused by a defect in CORIN, the gene on chromosome 4p13-p12 that encodes a serine-type endopeptidase which converts non-functional propeptide NPPA into active atrial natriuretic peptide hormone, resulting in natriuresis, diuresis and vasodilation.
