U-shape suppressive effect of
phenol red on the epileptiform burst activity via activation of estrogen receptors in primary hippocampal culture.
Bone marrow precursors from C57BL/6 (B6: black bars) or B6.NZM.Sle1.Sle2.Sle3 (TCSle: white bars) female and male mice were cultured with GM-CSF in standard phenol red/media conditions (a, c, d) or media lacking
phenol red and void of steroids (charcoal-treated FBS: hormone depleted) (b, c, d).
The PET fibers were dissolved in benzyl alcohol, to which chloroform was added, the solution was neutralized by 1/10 N of a sodium hydrite benzyl alcohol solution using
Phenol Red as an indicator, and then the amount of carboxyl end groups was determined.
Similar to other studies evaluating topical rocuronium in avian species, we used the Schirmer tear test rather than the
phenol red thread test despite the smaller size of the
phenol red thread.
For the determination of secretolytic activity tracheobronchial secretion of intraperitoneally injected
phenol red was determined in mice, while antiinflammatory action was assessed in an acute bacterial bronchitis model in rats.
Acid production from ribose, L-arabinose, and galactose was also tested by using
phenol red base medium (Difco Laboratories, Detroit, MI), supplemented with 1% (w/v) sugar, after 48 h of incubation at 37[degrees]C.
Tear production was measured by modified Schirmer tear test I (n = 9 birds) or
phenol red thread test (n = 8 birds), and intraocular pressure was measured indirectly by applanation (Tonopen-XL) (n = 9 birds) or rebound (TonoVet) (n = 8 birds) tonometry.
