Effects of salt stress on
mesophyll cell structures and photosynthetic characteristics in leaves of wine grape (Vitis spp.).
Among these parameters, the midrib height was positively correlated with iron content (r = 0.8374, p = 0.038),
mesophyll thickness was negatively correlated with water pH (r = -0.8178, p = 0.047) and positively correlated with aluminum content (r = 0.8811, p = 0.02), and cuticle thickness was negatively correlated with water pH (r = -0.8677, p = 0.025).
Dilution of isolated
mesophyll cells of Asparagus officinalis in excess culture medium suppressed cell division.
Slides were later observed and photographed at x100 and x400 magnifications in LEICA DM 500 microscope to observe differences in the arrangement of various internal leaf layers (epidermal cells, palisade layer, and spongy
mesophyll) as well as trichomes among the Plectranthus species.
The author also studied the Cd distribution in
mesophyll protoplast of leaf cells in both the hyperaccumulating plants, namely, T.
In Figure 4, one can observe the
mesophyll count of sierra fillets, control, and treatments, stored on ice during 15 days.
[26] reported condensation of tannins during the winter season as a natural frost resistant mechanism of
mesophyll cells to avoid injury.
Also, these crystals have been found in the
mesophyll (Figure 2).
The accumulation of these elements cause increases in epidermal and
mesophyll thickness, and elongation of the palisade cells.
Many calcium oxalate druses are present in the leaf
mesophyll.
