Only six years old, Shivani Angappan carrectly spelled tongue-tangling words like "hippocampus," "condyle," "occipital," "meninges," and even "
leukoblast" to win the 2006 Jack and Jill National Spelling Bee at our Fitness Farm in April.
Shivani competed against kids from other age groups, even 11- and 12-year-olds, and had to spell really hard words like "occipital," "meninges," and "
leukoblast." But she hung in there, finally winning the event by correctly spelling "vasa" (which means vessel or opening).
