Sterculia, which becomes gelatinous when moisture is added; used as a bulk
cathartic and dental adhesive. It is available in rings that can be molded into any desired shape. Products containing karaya gum are often used as protective skin barriers in the care of
colostomy and other conditions in which there is a
stoma. Called also
sterculia gum.
