Brain imaging studies may lead to such a treatment by helping scientists understand the exact roles of hypocretinergic pathways, as well as the hypothalamus, amygdala,
inferior frontal gyrus and other brain structures in cataplexy.
Researchers have also demonstrated a lower correlation of activation in dyslexics between left angular gyms, fusiform gyms, and
inferior frontal gyrus (Horwitz, Rumsey, & Donohue, 1998).
The inferior margin borders on the Sylvian fissure (lateral fissure) separating it from the temporal lobes.[18,23] The prefrontal region lies anterior to the motor area, located just anterior to the central fissure, while Broca's area is situated at the
inferior frontal gyrus.[12]
Furthermore, lateralized cortical decreases were observed in the right middle frontal gyrus,
inferior frontal gyrus, precentral gyrus, superior temporal gyrus, thalamus, and putamen and in the left cuneus, precuneus, cingulate gyrus, fusiform gyrus, middle temporal gyrus, and medial frontal gyrus.
As shown in Figure 1 and Table 2, the ReHo values were higher in depressed patients in the right superior temporal gyrus, right middle temporal gyrus, left inferior temporal gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus, right middle frontal gyrus, triangular part of the right
inferior frontal gyrus, orbital part of the right
inferior frontal gyrus, right superior occipital gyrus, right middle occipital gyrus, bilateral anterior cingulate, and paracingulate gyri, and values were reduced in the right fusiform gyrus, left middle occipital gyrus, left lingual gyrus, and left inferior parietal except for the supramarginal and angular gyri.
In addition to the left BA47 (
Inferior frontal gyrus --Pars orbitalis) that has the highest intensity, the following regions appear "activated": BA46, BA6, BA 13, BA37, BA20, BA21, BA22, BA7 and BA18
White matter tract abnormalities between rostral middle frontal gyrus,
inferior frontal gyrus and striatum in first-episode schizophrenia.
Furthermore, T1D patients showed greater activations in the right
inferior frontal gyrus, cerebellum, basal ganglia, and substantia nigra.
The left
inferior frontal gyrus had reduced brain activation during easier tasks, while the middle frontal gyrus and the superior frontal gyrus were affected during more difficult tasks (Diabetes Care 2014 Nov.
