fibrinous pericarditis

Inflammation of the PERICARDIUM with deposition of FIBRIN and white cells between the layers causing adhesions to form that may interfere with the free action of the heart. The condition occurs in rheumatic carditis and as a complication of some acute infectious diseases.

According to VAN VLEET & VALENTINE (2007), fibrinous pericarditis and clostridial pleuritis observed in cases of myocarditis can be attributed to hematogenous infection by C.
Additional related findings were fibrinous pericarditis, bilateral pleural effusions with pleural adhesions, hypertensive cardiovascular disease, a remote infarct of the right insular cortex, and remote myocardial infarct by histology.
Postmortem examination of each of the 2 dead llamas 6-16 hours after death showed similar results: acute and severe hydrothorax, severe congestion and edema of the lungs, and fibrinous pericarditis. Histopathologic examination showed diffuse and severe congestion of the lungs, heart, and kidneys.
