equator of the crystalline lens

equator of the crystalline lens

The circle formed by the outer margin of the lens. The equator is not smooth, but shows a number of indentations corresponding to the zonular fibres. The indentations tend to disappear during accommodation, when the zonular fibres are loose. See crystalline lens; zonule of Zinn.
