One of four arteries arising from the dorsalis pedis (I) and arcuate (II-IV) arteries and running on the dorsa of the interosseous muscles of the foot.
Synonym(s): arteria metatarsalis dorsalis.

After the artery and vein cross the tarsometatarsus, they become the dorsal metatarsal artery and vein and perfuse the digits.
