Along its course, the DPA gives rise to the medial tarsal, lateral tarsal, arcuate, deep plantar and 1st dorsal metatarsal arteries. This standard anatomic description has been recorded by many authors (Vazquez et al., 2006; Kelikian & Sarrafian; Moore et al., 2014; Standring et al.).
