(do͝ong kwā, kwī)n. A perennial aromatic herb (Angelica sinensis) in the parsley family, native to China and Japan, yielding a root that is used medicinally for gynecological disorders such as premenstrual syndrome, menstrual cramps, and menopausal symptoms.
