a combination of carbon dioxide and hemoglobin, CO2 HHb, being one of the forms in which carbon dioxide exists in the blood.

Carbon dioxide bound to hemoglobin by means of a reactive amino group on the latter, that is, Hb-NHCOOH; approximately 20% of the total content of carbon dioxide in blood is combined with hemoglobin in this manner.
