Spitting of blood derived from the lungs or bronchial tubes as a result of pulmonary or bronchial hemorrhage.

An obsolete term for bleeding in small amounts from a bronchus or bronchi; it is rarely used in the working medical parlance, and is replaced by the more commonly understood pulmonary haemorrhage.
