We know that any dietary factor that reduces the availability of taurine precursors, binds taurine
bile salts in the intestine, or causes an increase in the bacteria populations that degrade taurine can reduce a dog's ability to synthesize taurine or will increase taurine degradation and/or loss in the feces.
Increased susceptibility for intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy and contraceptive-induced cholestasis in carriers of the 1331T>C polymorphism in the
bile salt export pump.
The main criterion for selecting a probiotic strain is the assessment of its pH and bile tolerance since the first biological barriers to be overcome after ingestion to reach its place of action are the acid in the stomach and
bile salts in the intestine (Fuller, 1989).
In the present study, we used the methodology by Tanaka, Hashiba, Kok, and Mierau (2000) based on the deconjugation of TDCA (sodium tauro deoxycholate hydrate--Sigma Aldrich) and GDCA (Glyco deoxy cholic acid monohydrate Sigma Aldrich)
bile salts per Lactobacillus acidophilus strains.

bile salts are involved in transcriptional regulation of the gene encoding the human
bile salt export pump," Hepatology, vol.
The results suggested that most of the LAB strains used in the study are tolerant to
bile salt at low concentration (Figure 1).
Renal involvement in malaria varies widely from mild-to-moderate proteinuria with accompanying urinary sediments containing RBCs and granular and/ or hyaline cast and
bile salts and bile pigments if associated with hepatic involvement.
The toxic effects of elevated intracellular
bile salts and bilirubin lead to portal and systemic endotoxemia, fluid-electrolyte imbalances, and malnutrition (2).
Further, KCC-32 displayed potential probiotic characteristics including resistant to low pH,
bile salt tolerance, auto-aggregation and hydrophobicity.
