[TA] the large bulbous portion of the pons seen on the ventral portion of the brainstem and ventral to the medial lemniscus in a cross section: contains longitudinally oriented fibers (corticospinal, corticopontine, corticoreticular, and others) and the transversely oriented pontocerebellar fibers.
