Beneath the clavicle, plexus cords are distributed around the
axillary artery and are positioned medially, laterally and posteriorly around the vessel.
2A) both lateral roots arose lateral to the 1st part of the
axillary artery and passed lateral to the 2nd part of the
axillary artery to form the MN lateral to the 3rd part of the
axillary artery.
Samta et al reported that the third part of
axillary artery gave rise to a common trunk, which branched into subscapular artery, profunda brachii and circumflex humeral arteries, and also Alar branches arose from the second part of
axillary artery.
In the second case, a common trunk from the second part of the
axillary artery contained the thoracoacromial, lateral thoracic, subscapular, and posterior circumflex humeral arteries.
(A:
axillary artery; F: brachial plexus cords; R: deltoid branch of the thoracoacromial artery; C: cephalic vein).
The
Axillary artery branching pattern was normal on the left side.
Obviously, this data produced represents a contribution to the literature and should be analyzed in the scientific context of
axillary artery branching.
In a standard textbook (9) the term" Vasa Aberrentia" has been used to describe a long vessel that connects the brachial artery with the
axillary artery or Radial artery.
It is not uncommon to find variations in the branching pattern of
axillary artery. Many of its branches may arise by a common trunk or a branch of the named artery may arise separately (Hollinshead, 1958).
Axillary artery is the direct continuation of the subclavian artery from the outer border of the first rib.
This anomalous SSA originated from the 1st segment of
axillary artery, 6.0 cm distal to the origin of thyrocervical trunk and 2.1 cm proximal to the thoraco-acromial artery.
Under general anesthesia, the right common femoral artery and right
axillary artery were released with surgical cut down method and ultrasound-guided percutaneous left common femoral artery puncture was performed.
