FOUR

Acronyn for Full Outline of Unresponsiveness Score. This is a coma scale proposed in 2006 and which is claimed to be more useful than the GLASGOW COMA SCALE (GCS) in patients in deep coma as a result of brain injury. GCS is said to be better in patients in less deep coma. FOUR includes assessments of pupil reactions and the respiratory pattern reflecting brainstem dysfunction.
