A case of cebocephaly-holoprosencephaly with an aberrant
adenohypophysis. Childs Nerv Syst 1987;3(4):251-4.
Rathke's cleft cysts are congenital cysts that represent remnants of Rathke's pouch, a dorsal invagination of the stomodeal neuroectoderm that ascends from the oral cavity into the sella to form the
adenohypophysis. These non-neoplastic cysts are found on 11% to 22% of routine autopsies and are usually asymptomatic.
Ultrastructural immunocytochemistry of the
adenohypophysis in the rat.
The posterior lobe (neurohypophysis or pars nervosa) is derived from the brain, whereas the
adenohypophysis (or pars distalis) develops from the oral ectoderm (epithelium forming the roof of the mouth) of the embryo.
Hormones of the anterior pituitary (
adenohypophysis) are produced within the pituitary gland itself.
Transplacental carcinogenic effects of nickel(Ill acetate in the renal cortex, renal pelvis and
adenohypophysis in F344/NCr rats.
POMC is processed in
adenohypophysis into ACTH, and in intermediate pituitary lobe into [beta]-endorphin ([beta]E).
The hypophysis could be dividedinto two parts, the outer
adenohypophysis and the inner neurohypophysis (Table I) (Figs.
The most commonly occurring human
adenohypophysis cell proliferation is prolactinoma, which generates prolactin overproduction.
For example, pituitary gland consists of neurohypophysis and
adenohypophysis (Figure 2(b)).
To date, there is only one report that mentioned dynamic gadolinium-enhanced images of pituicytoma and demonstrated early homogeneous enhancement of the tumor,[sup][2] rather than the gradual enhancement commonly seen with pituitary adenomas.[sup][3] However, this report did not obtain signal intensity-time curve (SITC) pattern of the tumor and could not compare it with the SITC pattern of normal
adenohypophysis.
