We have a dedicated team of 36 women currently volunteering within our charity shop in Captain Cook Square, Counselling and within the office, as
volunteers are so vital and play such a key role we have also recruited 12 additional new
volunteers.
"We have further enhanced our
volunteer programme, including improving our policies and processes and we have recently introduced an exciting new Evertonised recognition scheme which is exclusive to our
volunteer programme.
Due to his extraordinary influence and leadership skills, UAE Nashama
Volunteers now has 20 Emirati executives and over a 1,000
volunteers.
Jamil Najam urged the
volunteers to fight poverty through local communities, run clean and green Pakistan campaign, introduce councils in schools and colleges, make environment societies, help each other and take responsibility for actions.
Ear Vanary, a fourth year university student at ITC and a
volunteer who participated at the International
Volunteer Day event, told The Post that she often
volunteers with NGOs and the community.
The main directions of the "SME
Volunteers" program are the accumulation of experience by
volunteers, the organization and promotion of
volunteer activities, the involvement of young professionals and
volunteers in entrepreneurship (Young Internship Programs), as well as cooperation with universities, NGOs and companies.
"It was sort of expected of me, to be a
volunteer and pass on the railways experiences to my children and their children."
With 7,000 already registered, the Expo Bureau is targeting 30,000
volunteers for the event, and the doors are open for all citizens and
volunteers.
Volunteer activities are mobilized by various sectors, such as non-government organizations (NGOs), government agencies, companies usually through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) departments or corporate foundations, the academe via school activities such as Brigada Eskwela, and the private sector.
The
volunteer centre that is ran by John Storer Charnwood and is based in Charnwood Road, have taken part in a number of projects this year including a social car scheme, a gardening scheme, the community garden and a befriending scheme.
