On the basis of the important role of Wnt5a in the nerve regeneration, we aimed to explore the effect of Wnt5a on Schwann cells by means of lentiviral vector technology which induces interference with Wnt5a gene in vitro .
1.5-h postketamine injection, a significant degeneration was observed in the spinal nerve roots, myelinated nerve fibers, lamellae, axoplasm, Schwann cell cytoplasm, and nucleus, in some regions, condensation was observed in the axoplasm.
The new insights of cell theory, that the boundary between "the animal and vegetable series of organic forms" is fluid, goes hand in hand with the picture presented in "Song of Myself." As Dallinger recounts Schwann's and Schleiden's research, it is the cell, "the fundamental basis of both animal and vegetable life" (my emphasis), that accounts for such a continuity between plants, humans and animals.
CLSM appears to be a simple and low-cost technique to differentiate morphological features of apparently identical populations of Schwann cells and, thus, to differentiate forms of neurofibromas with low and high risk of recurrence and malignant degeneration.

The diagnosis of plexiform schwannoma relies on the characteristic gross and histopathologic examination that demonstrates a multinodular growth pattern of predominantly hypercellular Antoni A areas consisting of fusiform Schwann cells with a typical palisading pattern around central eosinophilic areas, known as Verocay bodies [26].
Using this model, the research team found for the first time that PrPC is over-produced in schwannoma compared with healthy Schwann cells.

The genes are likely to be expressed when cells differentiate into neural crest lineages, such as neurons or Schwann cells, thereby enabling researchers to study the disease in a dish.
Schwannomas, also referred to as neurinomas or neurilemmomas are benign, solitary, slow growing, encapsulated nerve sheath tumor composed of Schwann cells.1 Schwannoma is a tumor of unknown etiology.2
