(hē-mof'i-lŭs ak-tin'ō-mī-sē'tĕm-kom'i-tanz) A bacterial species of oral cavity flora in humans; frequently associated with human periodontal disease as well as subacute and chronic endocarditis; occurs with actinomycetes in actinomycotic lesions. A member of the HACEK group of organisms (Haemophilus sp., Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, Cardiobacterium hominis, Eikenella corrodens, and Kingella species).
