EFNB3

EFNB3

A gene on chromosome 17p13.1 that encodes ephrin-B3, a cell surface GPI-bound ligand for the Eph family of tyrosine kinase receptors, which are crucial for migration, repulsion and adhesion during neuronal, vascular and epithelial development. EFNB3 is crucial for the development and maintenance of the brain—especially of the forebrain; it binds to, and induces the collapse of, commissural axons/growth cones, and it may play a role in the orientation of longitudinally projecting axons. It is highly expressed in brain and interacts with GRIP1 and GRIP2.

Implications of EPHB6, EFNB2, and EFNB3 expressions in human neuroblastoma.
High-level expression of EPHB6, EFNB2, and EFNB3 is associated with low tumor stage and high TrkA expression in human neuroblastomas.
