AKAP1
AKAP1
A gene on chromosome 17q21-q23 that encodes a member of the structurally diverse A-kinase anchor protein (AKAP) family, which binds type-I and -II regulatory subunits of protein kinase A, anchoring them to the cytoplasmic face of the mitochondrial outer membrane. AKAP1 is thought to play a role in cAMP-dependent signal transduction and in directing RNA to a specific cellular compartment.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc. All rights reserved.
