The prezoosporangia were incubated to induce zoosporulation and transformation to zoosporangia in aquaria containing seawater at 25[degrees]C: an aquarium (60 cm L x 30 cm W) containing 40 L seawater and that (36.5 cm L x 21.5 cm W) containing 8 L seawater for Experiments 1 and 2, respectively.
When zoospores began to be released from the zoosporangia after 3-day incubation period, a group of 319 clams was kept in the aquarium containing zoospores and zoosporangia for 24 h.
Sporulation density varied six fold: 3.91 x [10.sup.5] zoosporangia were produced by cotyledons for isolate DU1915 M2 and 19.68 x [10.sup.5] for isolate MIL001 M2.
The proportion of oval form varied from 37 to 94% and the zoosporangia size from 315 to 918 [[micro]m.sup.2] (Table 3).
candida was grown on Brassica juncea (L.) Cosson cultivar Southern Giant Curled Mustard, zoosporangia were collected and stored frozen, and inoculum prepared as described in Williams (1985).
After 13 days of infection of the sunflower inbred line 'FU', the zoosporangia and sporangiophores suspensions for 20 single zoosporangium isolates were obtained by grouping all sporulated cotyledons in a small container and adding 1 ml of physiological water for each cotyledon (9g NaCl+1L sterilized water).
Evidence of growth included attachment of inoculated zoospores, change in size and form of zoosporangia, and release of new zoospores into the water.
