Related to wet-bulb thermometer: Dry Bulb Temperature
wet-bulb ther·mom·e·ter(wet'bŭlb thĕr-mom'ĕ-tĕr)
Ambient air thermometer with a bulb enclosed by a wet wick. With high relative humidity, little evaporative cooling occurs, and the reading is similar to that of a dry-bulb thermometer. On a dry day, significant evaporation occurs from the wetted bulb, which maximizes the difference between the two thermometer readings.
