warm nodule Nuclear medicine A circumscribed ↑ in radioisotope concentration seen by radionuclide imaging of the thyroid–'thyroid scan' in which functional thyroid lesions suppress TSH synthesis, but don't cause hyperthyroidism–the latter of which evokes 'hot' nodules. Cf Cold nodule.
