STOCKHOLM -- Clinicians might want to consider more routinely monitoring levels of
vitamin Bp in their diabetic patients who are using metformin, according to data from the HOME (Hyperinsulinaemia: The Outcome of Its Metabolic Effects) randomized controlled trial, which showed that [B.sub.12] depletion was linked to neurotoxicity.
Finally, the earliest studies on oral
vitamin Bp replacement using low doses of vitamin B;, were failures, which gave evidence to the thinking that the only way vitamin [B.sub.12] could be replaced would be via parenteral administration.
