A gene on chromosome 5p15.2-p13.1 that encodes a protein which contains a conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif; it is expressed only in the ovaries and testes, and in migratory primordial germ cells near the gonadal ridge in both sexes. It may play a role in sperm motility.
