Though this study has been a fairly small scale one, using individual trees as sample units, it has provided a convenient model with which to test both mapping and interpolation methods, as well as varicography. It is entirely possible to use the same techniques on wider ranging and much larger data sets which cover whole forests or even geographical regions.
