Urginea

African-Mediterranean plant genus in the family Liliaceae; contains bufadienolide cardiac glycosides; causes abdominal pain, cardiac irregularity, diarrhea, dyspnea, sudden death; includes U. altissima, U. capitata, U. lydenburgensis, U. macrocentra, U. maritima (Scilla maritima, red squill), U. physodes, U. pusilla, U. rubella (snakehead), U. sanguinea (U. burkei). Called also slangkop, jeukbol, sea onion, red squill.
