Etymology: Gk, oureter + graphein, to record
the radiological imaging of a ureter, usually conducted as part of an examination of the urinary tract. The examination may involve injection of a radiopaque medium through a urinary catheter with the aid of a ureterocystoscope (the ascending method), or by IV injection of a contrast medium that permits the filtering of the substance through the kidneys (the descending method) to the ureters.
