upper critical temperature

the environmental temperature defining the upper limit of the THERMONEUTRAL ZONE of a tachymetabolic animal (see TACHYMETABOLISM). Above this temperature, STANDARD METABOLIC RATE rises as a consequence of an increase in CORE TEMPERATURE.
