A yellowish crystalline iodine compound, CHI3, used as an antiseptic.

(ī-ō′dō-form) [Gr. ioeides, violet colored, + L. forma, form]
CHI3; a yellow crystalline substance with a disagreeable odor, produced by the action of iodine on acetone in the presence of an alkali. Used topically, it has mild antibacterial action.
