[TA]a small triangular area on the posteromedial surface of the thalamus at the caudal end of the medullary stria, corresponding to the underlying habenula.

habenular trigone
A depressed triangular area located on the lateral aspect of the posterior portion of the third ventricle. It contains a medial and lateral habenular nucleus.
