a psychosis resulting from physical injury or emotional shock. Compare: posttraumatic psychosis.

traumatic psychosis

Etymology: Gk, trauma, wound, psyche, mind, osis, condition
a psychiatric disorder that results from injury to the head, with symptoms usually indicating brain trauma. It is differentiated from psychic trauma in which personality damage can be traced to an unpleasant experience, such as sexual assault.

traumatic psychosis

Psychosis or schizophrenia-like illnesses occurring in people who have suffered traumatic brain injury.
