, transuranium (tranz″ū-ran′ĭk) (-rā′nē-ŭm) [ trans- + uran(ium) + -ic]
Pert. to a chemical element that has an atomic number greater than 92 (the atomic number of uranium). None of the transuranic elements are stable, and they all decay by radioactivity into other elements. Americium, berkelium, and californium are transuranic elements.
