transitional dentition

mix·ed den·ti·tion

Combination of primary and permanent teeth, usually present between ages 6 and 12 years when primary teeth are being replaced; starts with the eruption of the first permanent tooth.
Synonym(s): transitional dentition.

transitional dentition (mixed),

n an older term for the final phase of the transition from primary to permanent teeth, in which most primary teeth have been lost or are in the process of shedding and the permanent successors are not yet in function.
