E2F5A gene on chromosome 8q21.2 that encodes a member of the E2F family of DNA-binding transcription factors, which play a key role in regulating the cell cycle and tumour suppressor proteins. E2F5 binds to tumour suppressor proteins p107 and p130, but not to retinoblastoma protein pRB.
