kidney damage caused by the effects of a nephrotoxin. The most common symptoms are dysfunction and then necrosis of the proximal tubules, sometimes progressing to renal failure.

In those patients who continued the combination of RAPAMUNE and cyclosporine the incidence of hypertension, cyclosporine toxicity, increased creatinine, abnormal kidney function, toxic nephropathy, edema, hyperkalemia, hyperuricemia, and gum hyperplasia was significantly higher than in those patients who had undergone cyclosporine withdrawal.
